New brown trout painting! This beautiful brown trout was caught in Argentina by my friend Hill, many thanks to him for letting me use his photo! I was struck by the rich browns of the river against the earthy colors and shiny scales of the trout.
I wanted to paint this fish more realistically while still staying true to the emotive abilities of what abstract painting can do. This painting shows how my style of painting fuses both the landscape and the fish together into one beautiful piece of art. The river and trout are one in this composition- areas of the fish disappear then appear again while referencing surrounding landscape. I think this process creates something exciting and alive on the canvas- an image that is always intriguing and allows you to find something new each time you take a look at it…much like the things we discover outdoors!
…and of course this image is too beautiful to do just one painting- stay tuned for a large 4′ x 5′ abstract I have in the works…

Becca,
Fantastic Job on this one. My wife is already in love with this painting. We’ll stop by and see you in either Farmington or Plymouth.
Keep the hit coming!
Thanks Chris! Always appreciate your kind words. I look forward to seeing you guys soon!!
