What an honor! MidCurrent first featured Fall Brown for the April issue of their online magazine, this month they asked to showcase Brook Trout, (Glance). Check out the Art section to see an amazing collection of fly fishing artists! It has been really exciting to have my work so well received by the fly fishing industry, quite humbling in fact, and I am thrilled to be placed in a category of artists that find inspiration in the sport, the outdoors, and the fish!

Thanks to Nomad Anglers for letting me use this photo from one of their trips to Montana- how could you not be inspired?! I recently saw my first Montana rainbow trout while fishing with my brother in law about a month ago (see older post). I was blown away by the coloring of these trout in person! I had started this canvas a few weeks ago- nice to be home from art shows for two weeks to wrangle in some finished work! For this new painting, it was all about the trout skin…so much color going on, and all of it beautiful.

Fly Fishing in Montana!
Georgetown Lake, MT. The rains and wind didn’t stop us! Just a beautiful spot, rainbow trout were around to say hello, we packed a lunch and sipped on a few Kokanee’s to make a day of it. I had so much fun! The fish were sooo pretty in person! Who wants to go fishing?!?!
Brook Trout Painting- New!
Not for the faint of heart! This new brook trout painting is full of bold color, sick texture, and raw energy. I looked at multiple images of brook trout to create this one painting- an abstract cleansing of sorts, I referenced images of this fish in different seasons both in & out of the water. Let your eyes wander through this piece as you discover areas of transparency…let your mind fill in the blanks. The summer art show season is heating up! I will be showing this weekend June 4-5 at Art on the Grand in Farmington, MI. Congratulations to the new owner of Malleo Brown! This beautiful painting will be on public display for the last time at the East Lansing Art Festival this weekend May 21-22.
